LANNDS Share New Single "K TOWN"
LANNDS, the newly Los Angeles-based duo of vocalist-guitarist Rania Woodard and multi-instrumentalist Brian Squillace, have released a sprawling new single, "K TOWN." Out today via Run For Cover Records, the track provides the perfect introduction to the vibrant psych-pop that LANNDS excel at. Woodard's entrancing vocals envelope the listener in a pillowy cloud of hooks that sits atop a foundation of propulsive bass, layered percussion, and dreamy synth flourishes. The song comes to a spiraling conclusion with a shimmering guitar solo that cuts through the lush production, highlighting LANNDS' ability to make transportive, otherworldly music that still feels deeply organic and human.
Since forming in 2017, LANNDS have been steadily releasing EPs and always pushing their sound in new directions. "K TOWN" follows lotus deluxe, a reissue of their 2020 EP with new material that marked their first collaboration with Run For Cover Records and garnered attention from the likes of NPR, BrooklynVegan, FLOOD Magazine, and more. Now "K TOWN" offers an enticing hint of what's to come from LANNDS. The new track was entirely produced, engineered, and mixed by Squillace and Woodard, reflecting the duo's uniquely in-house approach to making such sweeping, widescreen music. “When we do it ourselves, even if it’s a little more 'home done' sounding, it’s just more us,” Squillace says. Years of collaboration have allowed the duo to embrace each other’s creative skills – whether it be Woodard’s blossoming layers of vocal melodies, or Squillace’s soulful piano chords – and shape them into a sound they can truly feel at home in, without the weight of outside influence. The result is a sound that LANNDS can truly call their own – and there's more to come.
