Rally for Change
In the wake of repeated harmful speech and actions by the Trump administration, we at Run For Cover feel compelled to use the platform you’ve afforded us to help protect the rights of marginalized people, raise awareness of injustice, and defend human rights in any way we can. Like many of our artists and colleagues, we’ve raised both money and awareness for worthy causes over the past few months in an effort to fight back against our failing political leadership, but we can always do more.

Awareness & Fundraising
With your help, we were able to raise nearly $30,000 for organizations including Planned Parenthood, Finex House, and ACLU during the last year. This year, we’re committing to donating 25 cents for every order placed in the RFC Webstore to a charitable organization. We'll choose a different organization to support every month and highlight it on our website along with information about what they do and how you can help.

Charity Concert Series
Each month we’re also going to host an intimate show at our office in Boston. We’ll donate all proceeds to a charity of the artist’s choosing and highlight that charity on our website as well. We’re still working out the particulars, but we also plan to livestream the shows and help collect donations from those not able to attend in person. The first three shows will be Christian Holden of The Hotelier in February, Evan Stephens Hall of Pinegrove in March and Sadie Dupuis of Speedy Ortiz and Sad13 in April. More details on all of that coming soon.

If you have any charity suggestions, questions, or just want to say hello, shoot us an email at community@runforcoverrecords.com

Benefit Show Charity: Earthjustice

"With more than a hundred attorneys in offices across the country, Earthjustice pursues three key goals to secure a just, flourishing world:

The Wild: Our nation’s laws protect the magnificent natural spaces and wildlife we have inherited from previous generations. Earthjustice enforces those laws to protect what we know to be irreplaceable wildlife and wild places, for this and future generations.

Healthy Communities: We fight for a future where children can breathe clean air, no matter where they live; where products in our homes are free of toxic chemicals; and where all communities are safer, healthier places to live and work.

Clean energy and a healthy climate: Earthjustice’s legal victories strengthen the rise of clean energy, laying the groundwork for the systemic change we must see. At stake is nothing less than our children’s—and our planet’s—future.

With the generous investment of our members, we are pursuing nearly 400 active legal cases. Earthjustice’s decades of success are thanks to strong partnerships with hundreds of organizations—and hundreds of thousands of passionate supporters."

Webstore Charity: NPE (Network for Public Education)

Recognizing the agendas of people like Betsy DeVos, long before she became the Secretary of Education, The Network for Public Education has been a leader when it comes to working directly against the forces trying to privatize public schools. They are an advocacy group whose mission is to preserve, promote, improve and strengthen public schools for both current and future generations of students. NPE opposes high-stakes testing, privatization of public education, mass school closures to save money or to facilitate privatization, demonization of teachers, lowering of standards for the education profession, and for-profit management of schools.

  • - "We support schools that offer a full and rich curriculum for all children, including the arts, physical education, history, civics, foreign languages, literature, mathematics, and the sciences.
  • - We support schools that are subject to democratic control by members of their community.
  • - We support schools that have the resources that their students need, such as guidance counselors, social workers, librarians, and psychologists.
  • - We support the equitable funding of schools, with extra resources for those students with the greatest needs."

Benefit Show Charity: Red Warrior Society

The Red Warrior Camp is a fundraising campaign for the Red Warrior Society. Donations go towards essential supplies to support the protesters at Oceti Sakowin, Standing Rock. The encampents for Sacred Water are protesting around the clock to block constuction on the Dakota Access Pipeline.

"Without your constant support, generosity and love, our good work, our strong stance, our defense of Water and Land would not be where it is today. We have been able to provide 3 hot and nutritious meals every day, we have continued to strengthen our encampment, and we have been able to provide for the material needs of our powerful community of strong men, women and children. We could never have done any of this alone." - Red Warrior Camp

“The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. is America's premier legal organization fighting for racial justice. Through litigation, advocacy, and public education, LDF seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve racial justice in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans. LDF also defends the gains and protections won over the past 75 years of civil rights struggle and works to improve the quality and diversity of judicial and executive appointments. Working in the four key areas of Criminal Justice, Economic Justice, Education, and Political Participation, LDF seeks to:

- Diminish the role of race in the criminal justice system;
- Increase fairness and African-American participation in all aspects of economic life;
- Increase equity in education and eliminate tolerance for schools that fail students; and
- Achieve full African-American civic engagement and participation in the democratic process."

January
Webstore Charity: CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations)

“CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties organization, with regional offices nationwide. Their mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.

CAIR has worked to promote a positive image of Islam and Muslims in America. Through media relations, government relations, education and advocacy, CAIR puts forth an Islamic perspective to ensure the Muslim voice is represented. In offering this perspective, CAIR seeks to empower the American Muslim community and encourage their participation in political and social activism.

Since being established in 1994, CAIR has a successful track record in its defense of civil liberties and tolerance. It is frequently seen as the "go-to" organization when bias is directed against Muslim individuals or institutions. Its status as the most frequently quoted American Muslim organization in our nation's media also suggests success in "providing an Islamic perspective on issues of importance to the American public.”
